How EtherFamily works

Every token trades against one quote asset, in a permanent market on Ethereum. How that market works, what it costs, and who can change what.

Nothing here is live yet

EtherFamily's contracts are in development: none is audited or deployed, so nobody can launch or trade on EtherFamily today. Every value on these pages is a design value shown with its status, not a live setting. Where a statement rests on an on-chain observation, a vendor's documents, a test or a model, it says so.

No advice

EtherFamily does not provide investment, legal or tax advice and does not claim that using these markets is lawful where you are.

The short version

  1. A creator launches a token: an ERC-20 with a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000, minted once. Nobody can mint more, pause transfers, blacklist holders or tax transfers.
  2. At launch the creator pairs it with one quote asset: native ETH, USDC, an allowlisted tokenized stock, or a share of an EtherFamily perp vault. The pairing is permanent.
  3. The whole supply goes into one Uniswap v4 position that starts at the opening price and that nobody can withdraw. The token trades against its quote in that market from its first block. The permanent lock
  4. Trading opens after a short window, 3 blocks in the baseline. The creator may buy first, inside the creation transaction. The opening window
  5. Every trade pays a 1%, 2% or 3% fee in the quote asset, split between EtherFamily and either the creator or the token's holders. Fees and splits
  6. There is no bonding curve and no migration. The token's USD value is its pool price times the quote's USD price, so it moves when the quote moves, even without trades in the token. Execution prices and USD marks

What a creator chooses

A creator makes a few choices once, in the creation transaction. None of them can be changed afterwards, by the creator or by EtherFamily.

What a launch fixes for good
ChoiceOptions
Quote assetNative ETH, USDC, an allowlisted stock token, or a perp vault share (perps are disabled today). WETH is not a quote: WETH holders reach ETH markets through a wrapping step.
Fee tier1%, 2% or 3% of every trade.
Who gets the non-EtherFamily part of the feeThe creator, or an address the creator names; or the token's holders, in proportion to what they hold. Holder rewards
Name, symbol and metadataFixed at launch. The description, image and links live on IPFS and are checked against a hash stored on-chain; editing a website changes nothing on-chain.
First buyOptional, only inside the creation transaction, at the normal fee. There is no free allocation for the creator or for EtherFamily.

The launch form will say, before the creator signs:

Permanent launch choices

These choices are permanent for this token: the paired asset, the fee tier and where the creator share goes (to you or to holders). No one can change them later.

The opening price

Every market opens at a nominal fully diluted value of $4,000 (baseline, bounded to $1,000-$1,000,000), priced in the quote asset. The quote's USD price at launch comes from:

  • ETH and USDC: the Chainlink ETH/USD or USDC/USD feed, rejected when older than the registry allows.
  • Stock tokens: a price of the token itself (not of the share) signed by EtherFamily's price service, at most 300 seconds old, within fixed bounds, usable once and only for that launch.
  • Perp shares: the vault's attested value per share, at most one hour old, only while the vault is operational and its value is not disputed.

Prices move in discrete ticks, so the real opening value differs from the nominal one by up to about 0.3% Model. The launch form shows the real value, and the creator sets the lowest and highest opening value it accepts. After opening, nothing reads an outside price: the market's price is set by trading alone.

Opening value

Opening value: effective opening value (nominal $4,000). Prices move in discrete ticks, so the real opening value differs from the nominal one by up to about 0.3%.

A market's life

Opening
Created, with the opening window still active. Only the creator's optional first buy has traded. The token page shows the block trading opens at.
Trading
Anyone can buy or sell, through any app or router, exact input only.
Selling at the opening price
Until someone buys, the pool holds none of the quote, so sells revert. The trade panel says so.
Liquidity milestone
The first block in which the quote held by the market is worth at least $25,000 (a design value). A label only: nothing moves and nothing migrates.
Quote restricted
An issuer pause, a blocklist or a missing conversion route can block one path. The page names the path and offers what still works.
Vault states (perp shares only)
The vault behind a share can close deposits, restrict redemptions or wind down. The token's market keeps trading as long as the share can move.

A status shown by the app is advice, not permission: before you sign, the app simulates your exact transaction at the latest block, and a failed simulation always wins over a cached status.

Telling tokens apart

Names and symbols are not unique: anyone can launch a token called anything, including the name of a stock or of another launch. A token is identified by its address, its pool id, its creator and the EtherFamily factory that created it. Token pages show all four, and warn when a name or symbol collides with a quote asset or an existing launch.

Token identity

Names and symbols are not unique. This token is identified by its address token address, its pool pool id and its creator creator address.

What exists today

Built

  • This website: these pages, a status page that reads the chain live, wallet connection and a server-side RPC connection.
  • The design: architecture, contract specifications, decision records and their review.
  • Reference models of the fees, the opening, holder rewards and the perp vaults.
  • Skeletons of the indexer and of the perp executor (perps disabled).

Not built

  • The contracts are in development. None has been audited or deployed, and nothing on these pages describes deployed code.
  • Any deployment, and the launch, trade, portfolio and claim flows.
  • Perp vaults: disabled until a live proof on the venue passes. Perp vault shares
  • Stock quotes: each token needs its own validation, and offering them needs a legal review. Stock quotes

Open decisions

  • A legal review of stock-quoted markets and of the perp disclosures.
  • The owner's go or no-go on the perp venue's custody model, and the venue's written confirmation that a contract-owned account may trade through it.
  • Admin multisig signers and the timelock policy.
  • Access to the stock issuer's price API (official prices for NVDAon and AAPLon).
  • Discoverability: Uniswap's interface routes to hooks like EtherFamily's only after a discretionary allowlisting.

How to read these pages

Claims on these pages carry the kind of evidence behind them:

  • Observed on-chain read from Ethereum mainnet at a stated block. Most reads are from block 26,085,700 (2026-09-29, 21:05 UTC).
  • Vendor-documented stated in a vendor's documents, terms or API.
  • Test-proven shown by a simulation on a mainnet fork or a unit test.
  • Model computed by EtherFamily's reference models; behavioural inputs to a model are hypotheses.
  • Design what EtherFamily's specification says the contracts will do. Nothing more until they are written and tested.
  • Hypothesis not yet validated.

Values are dated observations or design parameters. None is a promise that a third party will keep behaving as observed.
